Finally, you can rebuild your archive with the 7z utility or the zip command (or alternatively the rar command if you want. I think it took about 30 hours to complete - I just let it run. What you do can instead is to extract the images from the archive with 7z e file.cbz for example and process the JPEGs to reduce the image quality (and size) with the convert command from ImageMagick. No errors, no missing information, and to be honest I can not see any difference in the quality. : So using the above script as a starting point I created a batch file to loop though all my old Comic Library files (they are old and not the greatest quality so I was okay if it all went wrong) - The 2597 files in total were 187GB before and ended up 92GB afterwards. Here is the link and thank you azuravian. Solution: A previous user asked a similar question (for a similar reason) and u/azuravian created a python script for them. I am not even sure if this is possible - but thought I would ask. In a perfect world it would be similar to the FindImageResolution.py script (by maforget) - but instead find and save the image format in a custom field instead. But now I can't remember what I have to still do or how far I got! A while ago I started converting my collection to webp.
